Snowflakes designed by nature

I watched the BBC’s incredible new documentary Frozen Planet over the holidays. The visually stunning series was narrated by none other then David Attenborough and one particular fact that he explained in the first episode stuck with me.

“As the warm, humid air from the south meets the cold, arctic air, the moisture it carries crystallises and snowflakes fall from the sky.

“Each crystal forms around a particle of dust. All have a six-fold symmetry but no two have ever been found with exactly the same sharp.

Their variety and complexity is breathtaking.”

With ten of thousands of new logos being produced every year, it’s becoming increasingly more difficult to create original brand identity.

But nature has ways of reminding us that it’s not impossible.
